Knox Presbyterian Church Renovation
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Client: Knox Presbyterian Church
A generous donation to the Knox Music Series created an opportunity to evaluate the existing facilities for music practice and performance. PWWG led a year-long planning session to evaluate the needs of the Music Program and outline a strategic facilities plan that defined the vision, goals, and design concepts for future improvements.
PWWG subsequently led full design services for a $1M renovation. The project focused on the Commons to transform it from a 5000 sf generic multi-purpose room into a worship space that complimented the existing historic architecture of the church and improved the experience of music. Renovations completely replaced the aged AV / IT and lighting systems with new digital technologies, wiring and controls, reconfigured the stage to provide a backstage crossover and stage extension, and relined the room with acoustic treatments and wood paneling.
In addition, the project reorganized problematic AV issues in the sanctuary, added cameras for improved streaming capabilities, and reconfigured lighting in the Choir Practice Room to improve aesthetics and visibility.
